Getting the most out of Sea Otter MTB festival in Monterey, CA next weekend? |
I've never been to Sea Otter before. For those who have been, I'd like to hear tips and tricks for attending. I'm staying in a hotel in Carmel, so I'm not camping. I'm just spectating, not racing and I'm trying to decide what type of bike to bring for just riding around the festival. Should I bring my single speed / fixed gear rigid frame with cyclocross tires on it? That'll be easier to pack up. Or should I just bring my softail? Any other tips for Sea Otter are appreciated, thanks! The Sea Otter Classic is an awesome event! Make sure to bring sunscreen, water, and cash! Even though the temperature might be cool, sunburns are the #1 complaint from attendees. They are predicting 60 degree weather for the Classic, but you will still burn. Traffic into and out of Laguna Seca is a major pain, and if you can arrange for someone to drop you off and pick you up, it will make everything a lot better. If so, bring your single speed. If you are planning to ride from Carmel to Laguna Seca, bring your softtail. The vendor booths are very entertaining and keep you up to date with the new gear. one caveat: create an e-mail address just for using on vendor info booths. I'm still getting e-mails from vendors 3 years ago. You'll have a great time! Source(s): http://www.seaotterclassic.com/... Sea otter is a blast. Depending in wheather. I've had some rainy years there and the more knobs the better. if its dry nothing says true rider that your single speed. I'm jelous can't go this year. Have a blast and spend time in the trade show. you will see some amazing and teched out bikes. |
