The pedals on my bike dont move!?

Ok so its warm and sunny out, so i decide to open the garage and ride my bike around for a few minutes.
But the pedals didnt move forward, they were like stuck.
They move back though.
How do i fix this?

Check to see if the chain is engaged.

Forward pedaling pulls the chain that turn the wheels. Back pedaling does not use the chain.

So, likely the chain is off or out of synch, or it's stuck and needs to be cleaned and oiled.

Interesting, when I wrote my answer, the answer above me only said "ride backwards". Shame on you yag. You either copied my answer, or violated YA in order to get first answer.

ride backwards???

Try checking the chain. Its probably slipped off of the derailler and is jammed in the gears. If it looks like you are going to have to pull hard to the chain unstuck, put some gloves ON....you don't want the chain to cut the hell out of your hand when it comes flying free.

WD40 and wait 15 seconds then turn the pedals

try oil on the chain

put some oil in there, hit it with hammer to move but not to hard, just enough to move itself then put more oil until its move...

probably because when the pedals are pushed hard enough (you may have forgotten how hard) the bike moves forwards. Sit on it & push harder.

They don't go back anywhere near a full revolution do they? If not then that's the amount of travel in the derailleur allowing you to pedal backward a little and it must be the chain as said. It's jammed somewhere (usually between the gears and the frame). Find out where and free it. It won't work itself free, it'll only get worse.

If it's not that, then your bike is possessed. Call a priest.

the chain is stuck
