How do i attach my sneakers to my indoor cycling bike pedal?

How do i attach my sneakers to my indoor cycling bike pedal?

With toe clips and straps. if the pedals won't except the clips you can buy a pair that will.

Duct tape, Pedals with straps or clipless pedals and a shoe that is compatible. I'd go with duct tape.

Hey N,

Remove your inner shoe sole and drill four holes in a square pattern where your pedals meet the bottom part of your shoes. Take two big zip ties and zip tie the sole to the pedal. Then replace your inner sole and do the same to the other the shoe. But I think "GoBigHits" idea of Duct Tape is a lot easier.

Kimber

-Hi McG,
I will Superglue my friends running shoe to her pedal tonight. I will let you know if it works. Hee Hee! = 0

what, Kimber won't super glue work?

First off get rid of the sneakers. If you want to wreck your knees a pair of running shoes used for bike riding can really do that. Bike shoes have hard soles designed to transmit force and not to absorb shock like running shoes.

Bolting shoes to pedals is a bad idea as you have a riding gait a lot like your walking gait. If you like to walk with your toes in a bit and I put braces on your legs and feet to make them point out you would be in big pain in no time on even a short walk or jog. Same on the bike. That is why most modern pedals that affix your cycling shoes to the pedals (called clipless pedals) may look solid but actually have at least a few degrees of float in them so your foot can assume a natural position. One of the bike magazines did a study a few years ago and put cyclists on a bike trainer with a small LED on the back of their shoe. They did time lapse photography as the riders pedaled and the natural heel movement was in a figure 8 pattern as viewed from behind. If you fix your shoes solid it can get you in trouble.

Also having the ball of your foot centered over the pedal shaft every time you ride is key. Sneakers will usually end up sliding forward and have you riding with the arch of your foot. This is not efficient or good training as it does not bring your calves into play.

Some stationary bike pedals can be fitted with toe clips and straps but you may have to change out the pedals to some BMX or MTN bike pedals to get something that will have bolt holes or reflectors that can be removed to reveal bolt holes. Buy the toe clips in a size that puts the ball of you foot over the pedal shaft.

Happy pedaling and good luck...

i wouldnt worry about spending hundreds of dollars. But if you cut out the back of the sneakers (providing they are cheap) you can attach the sneakers with duck tape or something else like that then you can just slip into them, pedal and then walk away with no fiddly work!
