Looking for all info on Mercedes bicycles!? |
I want to give my hubby a bike for Christmas. He is a senior, but still in pretty good shape. He wants a bike to go riding with our 10-year-old that won't make him feel like he's been going shockless for miles over boulders when he's only gone a couple of miles of smooth dirt path in the park with our son. He has always liked goodies - unique things from Sharper Image and Brookstone really tickle him. That's what made me think of the Mercedes bike. My hubby says he wants a mountain bike with big, fat tires so it will be comfortable. I know there are other things that make for comfort on bicycles. But I'm not exactly sure what. I would love to hear from someone who owns one of these or knows of one or has sold them, etc. We have year-round riding here, so he could use it a lot. What kind of pedals should it have, handle bars - remember we are really going for comfort, comfort, comfort. If it can look really cool and have simple, but good gear shifts, that would do.:-) Thanks so much!!! The essential thing is fit, fit, fit, fit and .... fit ;-) So do NOT get the bike as a surprise, make a gift certificate and take hubby to your local bike shop and try out the bikes so that they can FIT him with the right bike at the right size. Fat tires *may* add comfort but they *will* add rolling resistance which makes it feel harder to ride. But you can always get slick tires later on as he rides longer distances or wants to go faster. Look into hybrid bikes, there are many to chose from. These may look similar to a mountain bike but are built for relaxing rides.
