New Baccetta Cafe. I got the left-hand one off with great effort, but the right-hand one is a real bear. I have tried immobilizing the crank with something through the chainring and whacking at the wrench. I have tried hitting the wrench with a hammer. I have tried all my strength to move it at all. ( I know the left-hand one is reverse-threaded and this one is not. Right?) Is there a liquid something I can buy and squirt. I really don't want to have to schlep this back to the shop. And, of course, I've already scratched my new crank arm doing this. :-( Sigh...
Normally the righthand side threads are righthand. This is the way I do it. Facing the bike with the front wheel to the right, turn the crank/ pedal so the pedal is horizontal to the ground and pointing to the front wheel, it can be facing sligthly to the ground. Get a good pedal wrench with the correct size opening to fit over the pedal nut. Attach wrech to pedal/nut so that the wrench is pointing toward the left of the bike. This is where you get the leverage to remove the pedal. THere might be an allen wrench hole on the backside of the pedal that could be used to help you remove it. You can try "liquid wrench" spray on it, but make sure to wipe off it off good where you attach the wrench. The better the fit of the wrench to the pedal makes removal easier. If you can not remove it by "hand" take to the bike shop.
they are reverse thread, you might be turning the wrong way.. try the other way.
