Bicycle slow?

My road bike feels like it drags, like I'm pushing the pedals through cement. It seems to drag even coasting downhill, so it can't be the pedals. I repacked the bearings, but the problem is still there. What else have I overlooked?

Start by checking the brakes. When you're off the bike do the wheels spin freely w/o touching the brake pads?

If this is not the cause then make sure wheels are spinning freely period. This would be the hubs, and not a very common problem, but worth looking into.

Pedals or even bottom-bracket (crank bearings) would have no effect in this, is as you say you experience it going down hill while coasting.

If all else fails take it to your LBS (Local Bike Shop).

-good Luck
Brakes dragging/Wheel hubs too tight
brakes rubbing? wheels in alignment?
perhaps your legs are tired...
