Bicycle pedals or crank case? what?

whats that area in the middle called for bicycle pedals that holds the bearings or whatever. The pedals just wobble sightly when i pedal, and I can't figure out how to get it apart. Does that usually just mean that the bearings are bad? Whats a good bike repair website, or what kind of ghetto tools should I use besides a pipe wrench?

It's called the bottom bracket, but I caution you, if you don't know what you're doing it would be better to take it to your trusted wrench so that he/she can do it. If you want to learn see if he/she will let you watch.

There are special expensive tools required and it may be easier and cheaper to have it done for you. If you ride a vintage bike you might want to consider investing in the tools and learn to pack the bearings and such yourself. In the long run it will save you money.

The wobble isn't that the bearings are bad, it is that you bottom bracket is loose. If it's a new rid you will need to tighten once or twice in the span of the first month or after it being reinstalled. Go to your wrench, I don't go to a website for repairs - although I hear wikipedia is coming up in the world, and good luck! Source(s): Experience
sounds like your bottom bracket may be loose or possibly damaged.

to torque wrench will be needed to reassemble. I also fit in some plumbers tape for smooth sailing.

not sure what year your bike is, but take it to your local bike shop. newer bikes have a sealed bottom bracket, the older ones may try your patience packing it together.
