There can be several issues that can cause this. First are the pedals themselves. Does the sound come from them? If so, they may need tightened (they are reverse threaded by the way) replaced or rebuilt depending on the pedal. Second is the Bottom Bracket (BB). Is it adjusted properly? If it is a non adjustable BB, are the bearings worn out? Is it in the BB shell too tightly or too loosely? Next are the crank arms. Are they loose? If so, tighten the crank arm bolts with a 10mm hex wrench. Next are the chain rings, are they loose? If so, tighten each one to ensure they are not creaking. Last, check the seat and the seat post. is the seat loose? what about the seat post. Often times while working on a bicycle, what I may think is a crank/BB/pedal issue is sometimes a seat/seatpost issue. Oh, and lastly, take your bike to a local bike shop for a proper diagnosis and a quality repair :) Hope this helps, and happy cycling :)

DO NOT USE WD-40 ON YOUR BICYCLE!!! Source(s): http://www.blackbarbicycles.com...
lube it. wd 40.
Go to Wally's filling station just off main street and get Goober to fix it.
Oil the parts with any type of oil.
the best way to remedy your problem is to open p your bottom bracket(BB)and either repack the BB or change it althogether.normally if it is a pedal problem aside from the creaking noise one should feel that your pedalling motion is off.you can change the BB yourself if you feel adventurous or better yet have it serviced in your nearest bike store
First of all clean and lubricate your chain. It's the most likely thing to squeak. Use a a real chain lube like Pedro's or White Lightning. I recently replaced a crank with a worn out bearing and afterwards it still squeaked. Turned out it was the chain. It got some better with lube but still needed replacing.
Check to make sure your pedals are tight. After that you'll probably be forced to take the bike to a shop unless you have the tools required to work on the crank and bottom bracket.
