Is this possible?

Is it possible to create an electric generator, you know, those kind that power up things by using a bicycle frame and pedalling? I wonder if it's possible to do so, and to make a huge rechargeable cell that will power an entire home for a while, maybe two days or so? Either I'm thinking crazy, or it can really be done. What inspired me to think about an invention like this was taking a look at a wind-up flashlight. The winder recharges a little cell that powers the LEDs, and the winder is connected to a gear assembly, then to a motor that recharges the cell. What do you think?

Years ago I saw a man on television who made a bicycle with a generator to power his TV at home. He did this so his children wouldn't become fat from watching TV. They had to pedal to power the TV while they watched.

At the local science center there is a similar bicycle hooked up to generate power for some light bulbs. After pedaling this bike myself I can agree that powering a house is possible.

I would advise you to use wind or water power instead of human power, there is a lot of pedaling involved.
yes but it would probably take A LOT of pedaling to power a house
Possible, but not probable. A home requires a lot of energy, you would not be able to live in the house you were attempting to power because you would constantly be biking. Now if you got like 1000 people to do it, maybe but then that would cost more than your electric bill.
so
1) winder recharges little cell
2) little cell powers LED
3) winder connected to gear assembly
4) gear assembly connected to motor
5) motor connected to cell which recharges the cell

hmmm...
what i don't understand is the last part (5) how would you achieve that? just something interested though but good concept :)
