CAn the grads help me on this Physics problems????

question 1: A bicyclist exerts a constant force of 40.0N on a pedal 0.15m from the axis of rotation of a penny-farthing bicycle whell witha radius of 50.0cm. If his speed is 2.25m/s after 3.0s, what is the moment of inertia of the wheel?? (Disregard friction and the inertia of the small wheel?)

question 2: A bicycle is a combination of simple machines. Identify three types of simple machines used to propel a typical bicycle.

Question 1:

Torque is a force applied at a distance,
T = F * r
Where T is the torque, F is the force, and r is the radius the force is applied away from the center or rotation.

T = 40 Newtons * .15 meters = 6 Newton meters

A torque causes an angular acceration,
T = alpha * I
where T is the torque, alpha is the angular acceleration, and I is the rotational inertia ("moment of inertia").

An angular acceleration relates to a linear acceleration,
alpha = a / R
where alpha is the angular acceleration, a is the linear acceleration, and R is the radius of rotation (the wheel's radius in this case).

The linear acceleration can be found by finding the change in linear velocity with respect to time,
a = delta v / delta t
a = 2.25 m/s / 3 s = .75 m/s^2

alpha = .75 m/s^2 / .5 meters = 1.5 radians per second^2

T = alpha * I
--> I = T / alpha
I = 6 Nm / 1.5 rad/s^2 = 4 kg m^2

Do your own homework next time (like on question 2).

Do your own damn homework.
I will teach u my child. Come & meet me in my cabin tommorrow morning.!!!
1.
torque = force * radius
= 40 * .15
= 6 Nm
torque = moment of inertia (I) * ang acc
ang acc = acc/radius = velocity/time*acc
= 2.25/3 * .75 = 1.5 rad per sec sqr
I = 6/1.5 = 4 kg m sqr

2.
well two of them are
linear motion
angular motion
