What do I do?

37 yo sane man with a bicycle, a cart and a cat will be homeless Saturday. No destination from where I am seems to be my fate. I have applied to truck driving school but must wait until Nov for license clean. I have $80 to my name until 8/3 when I get $400 dd into bank w debit card. I have no discernable talents except kitchen related. I am scared. Not in best of health due to smoking habits I am going to break on bike ride out of here to ? I don't know where to go, or what to do. No way I leave my cat. I'll be pedaling from Lee, Fl.
There is no assistance from friends. Any words?

Maybe the trip would seriously stress your cat out, as well as yourself. Good luck, but I suggest if you have not already, think about your options for staying put and finding temporary accommodation and work. Maybe there is a care-taking sort of job going where you can get lodgings for some work, whether it be handy-man or companion etc. Maybe it could work, but a truck-driving job does not sound like a good thing for caring for your cat as well. Some cats are really territorial and do not like being moved around. Is there an employment agency around? Maybe they can help you get some work, as well as some advice about what services and agencies are about that can help with emergency accommodation. Hope it works out for you, including with your health (maybe you can get some help with quitting smoking too).
God Bless You, even if you don't believe in Him, He loves you very much.

As a homeless person for over two years I learned a few things. First, Florida is not a good place for homeless people. If you don't have friends, which I had a few, there is not much governmental or charitable help for you as a single person. The government, in Florida, will only give you food stamps.

I started out homeless with two cats. By the time I lost my car, I had to give up the cats to the humane society. I started driving in Florida and lost the car and cats in Little Rock, Arkansas where I went into a deplorable Salvation Army Shelter.

At that time I still had $800 in the bank. I bought a 6 month unlimited Greyhound bus ticket and lived on a bus until I could find work somewhere. I went around the country on Greyhound buses until I came to New York City.

Here in New York I received charitable and governmental assistance to help me get a real home which is a small apartment, at little expense. I also got medical, financial and food assistance until I was able to make it on my own within a few months.

I'm not telling you what to do, only what I have done and how it worked out for me.

Again, God Bless You and keep you. You are very valuable to us.

Yours in Christ Jesus, Grace
