What are the odds of me being kidnapped?

Okay my mom is freaking out that I just wanna go to the store like 2 seconds away from our house. I have a bike lock and a cell phone. But she still doesn't want me to go. What are the odds of me being kidnapped?

its not that big of a store its like a dairy mart

Really low! But it does depend on a couple of things. How old are you? Do you live in a safe-ish place?

You will not be kidnapped, unless:
1) you are a resident of Columbia
2) you are rich and an important person
3) your family is rich and very important persons in the community or in government service

If you say NO to all these questions, then, go ahead and go out wherever you want to go. Talk to your Mom in a very nice way, going back to the days when she was your age. I am sure she had much freedom then.
But if you were my daughter, I wont let you go out in the evening and be with people I dont know personally until the wee hours of the morning. I love you too much not to care about your well-being.

Just don't panic about it; it is natural for Mother's to be clingy and worried about their child's safety. After you have done it once she will let you do it again. Reason with her, say the shop is close and you will have your phone if she feels that she needs to be in contact.

Like 0. But then again, it's safer to go with another person/people. You never know what kind of psycho can be out there...A girl in 8th grade in my own school got sexually abused just walking home from school by a person, and my brother (he was 15) almost got stabbed walking home from school because he was being mugged....but believe me, we live in one of the BEST neighborhoods in New York State, and this is still going on.

Mabey you could get a proffesionaly trained security dog that will attack on command? Then you can go to the store =D.

a girl from my town was kidnapped when she went to the store she was found with her throat cut open

well it depends on alot of things like if you live in a dangerous neighborhood or how old you are if the store is literally 2 seconds away and u have a cell phone then she shouldnt be worried

omg my moms the same way! nobody even gets kidnapped in our town and i live in a really quiet neighborhood! my mom thinks wherever i go, even to a friends house when she drops me off that ill get kidnapped.

anyways, the odds are VERY low unless you live in a place where that usually happens like somewhere thats not safe and usually has crime and stuff
