How come people lock their car doors when I ride my bike?

Whenever I ride around town on my bike or walk, there is always somebody who locks their car door. LOL. I am not a axe murderer people! I can hear the "click" sound from inside the car. I know that we live in a dangerous time but I am a female and I should be more afraid of you ! lol

I do ride on the sidewalk but usually the sidewalk is close to the street. Yes I understand very much that people want to be careful. I know there are crazy women out there but there are very few of them. I trust women but not men (sorry guys) I do lock my doors at the gas station because yes I don't trust guys.

They're just being careful. There are some crazy women out there too. I'm a woman too, but if anyone pulled up next to me on a bike, I'd lock my doors too.

If you're riding on the street and the car is at a complete stop, then maybe they think you're in a position to where you can do them some harm. You're just an arm's length away, but if you were in another car you'd be less apt to do damage or something because it would take time for you to get to their car. I'm leery of people near my car on foot too. It's sort of strange and uncomfortable because it's not a usual set of circumstances. If you're walking or on a bike, why not use the sidewalk? If I saw a bike sitting in traffic I would NOT trust that situation at all. Why sit there with the cars when you don't have to?

for safety reasons there are alot of people that get robbed by different people do not be offended if your mom leaves you in the car to go inside to pay for gas does she say lock the doors? hope you find this helpful.
