What bike lock should I buy? |
I'm going to be riding to work which is a little over 7 miles away and parking my bike somewhere outside. As far as the location of where it'll be parked: U-Locks are the strongest. You might want to use a cable lock with it too. Make sure you always lock the frame and the tire. And when in doubt use many locks. U - Locks seem to be the strongest. Use at least 2 locks. U - Lock and a good cable with pad lock (not combination lock). Take everything removable inside with you. Water bottles, bags, pump etc. You want it there to go home. Depends on where you live! The Kryptonite NY chain is the best. U-lock and cable is a really good option. Be smart about where you park your bike. Keep it visable, and move it around often (don't park in exactly the same place all the time): bike theives will case a bike that they see in the same spot all the time. Where ever you're going see if you can find a place inside. I always ask at new job or school. See if you can find a place to put it inside. Get the BEAST (Chain Lock ) or the Gonzo 'Flexweave' cable both from AEROSTICH (www.aerostich.com) CUSTOMER SERVICE -800-222-1994. (Order their 2008 catalog when it will be out!) |
