Where is the safest city or town South Africa?

When I say safe I say safe by western countries standard. Please Help I need to know the name of the safest city or small town in south africa. A city where one can live a normal life of course I still have to lock doors and windows with electrical fence. But I need a city where people are well educated and don't robb you for nothing . A city where there is the least violent crime ( rape, murder etc.) a calm place to raise family and let children ride their bike in peace

Knysna or Plettenberg Bay - not cities but beautiful towns within driving reach of bigger cities like Cape Town or Port Elizabeth. I've from that region myself and only return on hoidays now as my family have moved to New Zealand where children can ride around alone in peace. I couldn't feel relaxed and let them do that in the bigger cities in South Africa. The country's problems with crime have nothing to do with Apartheid, that ended in 1991 - the reason for the crime is the current government's inability/disinterest in putting a stop to it.

Your on the wrong continent their pal!

I don't think one exists in SA does it???

Constansia in Cape Town would be my bet but you would need plenty of money

My friend has a house in Durban and says when she goes over she feels totally safe, has never seen a crime and they leave the house for 10 months of the year unattended and it has never been broken in to.

my dad used to live there, and had to have bars on his bedroom windows. but that was back before '85... might have changed.

South Africa. beautiful country, but when it comes to being safe, they still have lots of problems left over from Apartheid. I hear Cape Town is lovely though.

Pofadder in the northern cape

Nobody goes there

Geez , There are a lot of trolls tonight who don't even stay here in SA ! Remember the answers that you recieved 9 months ago ? http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;... Since you have lived in Canada and you have been to the UK you will be fine in any City in SA.

johannesburg for sure. most people say that its dangerous but that is merely a stereotype.
i grew up here and in the 24 years of my life i have been a victim of any crime here! i work as a paremedic and a rescue worker in my free time and i work in some of the worst parts of johannesburg and guess what? there is no danger at all! so johannesburg is the place to be

That would probably Kestell in the Free State but be warned it is not a city - if you are speeding and you look right for 2 seconds you miss it and you better like dirt roads - lol there is only one tar road

Stellenbosh, I'm actually contemplating moving there.

when u get one plz tell me

That's for sure HeavyD! Where these trolls all come streaming from will always be a mystery to me and it's getting damn sickening! South Africa is a beautiful country and I still say that the crime is no worse than any other country. It's other things that we have issues with.

Johannesburg, in the snake pit at the zoo. Or in the Lion enclosure if you prefer.

over there by the zoo

Whatever city has the least amount of blacks I'm guessing. We do nothing, but cause trouble.

I think you may need to move to a caucasian or asian part of the world.

you are all racist biggets. (this comment is to the first four or five people that answered.)
