October 31st
So there I was in the darkness, shivering.
It was Halloween; children dressed as ghosts, villains, heroes, angels and demons were walking on sidewalk somewhere.
I was bending over in nothing but a t-shirt and shorts trying to lock my bike up.
It was one of those locks with the codes; I fumbled and cursed as my breath took flight.
I used one hand to hold my cell phone over the lock and the other to tinker.
Suddenly my phone vibrated.
A girl who was good friend of mine and whom I cared too much for had left a message 鈥渨hat are you doing tonight鈥?
I dropped my bike and typed vigorously in the cold.
So there I was squatting in the darkness; numb and waiting for response.
My bike lay in the river rock forgotten.
As I waited I wondered who I was and how crazy I must be.
Was I just like van Gogh and his severed ear?
Was I just like Beethoven and his Fur Elise?
No.
I picked my bike up and rolled it inside the sunroom, locking the door behind me.
I let the warmth envelop me as I walked up the stairs to my room on the top.
I set my phone on my dresser, lay down on my couch in front of a Halloween special and that was that. Not sure if it was a Poem or Prose but it was good had a nice flow or feel to it. wow... i thought that was good... i was very interested... i wish it could of been longer but i really enjoyed it.. you have a tatlent... but that is my opinion..lol It's not poetry; it's not prose either. It's a nice little story though and I bet you could do this again about a lot of other events in your life.
I don't know what it is either, but I like it. It's simply put and it flows nicely and I just like the little "slice of someone's life" feeling I get from the read. You've made it easy to slip into your life and experience that one halloween event in your life and THAT is worth continuing on with this style of writing you have.
Keep writing. I'd really like to see more. |
