Any1 know the law?

recently me and a buddy were involved in a fight, or jumping. my friend was allll coked out and drunk. it was about 8 in the morning and he saw this guy he had problems with from a diff hood... so he rushed him off his bike without warning and we stomped his face for about 4 minutes... we didnt take his bike or anything... but.. we were on camera.. now my buddy is already locked up.. i live in a diff city and i havent gotten any word about me... im 18. any1 know what i shoud expect? this is defiantely not my first violent charge, it is as an adult though.

Well, if they do manage to identify you, you should expect to be arrested and either plead guilty or not guilty. I'm sure you know how it goes from there. Since you are an adult and this is not your first violent offense, I would presume that you will serve some jail time. I would suggest that you get some drug and alcohol counseling as well as some anger management. Is this really how you want to spend the rest of your life? Jail really sucks if you need to spend years and years there.............

You should expect to be caught and do at least six months in lockup.

Definitely plan on spending some time in jail for committing that crime. Especially since you were clearly on tape--they will find you. They probably just havent updated their paper work yet but they will be coming. You should realize you are responsible for your actions. And if you were alone would you have tried to cause a fight or because the two of you ganged up on him?
Jail is not fun.. I have had friends go for being in the wrong place at the wrong time and if you really want all that on your record...

What you describe is a significant assault. In New York, the fact that you were two, you ambushed him and stomped his face for four minutes tells me that the probable charge would be 1st Degree Assault, which you send you upstate for 8 and 1/3 to 25 years, with a probable sentence in the neighborhood of 5 to 15. If the priors counted, then the max would be 12.5 to 25 and the likely disposition would be 7.5 to 15.

SInce the court will be aware that you have a history of violence, the sentence might well be longer. I would speak to an attorney. The odds are that your "buddy" has given you up and spin a tale that puts you in the worst possible light. You might wish to surrender in order to reduce the sentence you are facing. That you'll end up with a real felony conviction is at this point a given. The question is whether you can plead out to a lesser charge that is eligible for probation. The only chance you have of that kind of bargained disposition would be to surrender and testify against your buddy, who, as indicated, is probably grasping at any available straws to avoid doing substantial time.
