Where do I put my bicycle lock? |
um i have purchased a bicycle lock but i was wondering where is the best place to put it while i am riding the bike? any suggestions if it is a cable type, then put it through the spokes on the front wheel, in between the braces on the fork, then through the main triangle on the frame and around a pole or something else immobile. while riding, keep it in a backpack. if you dont have one, wrap it around the top tube near the seat post. ON YOUR BIKE SMART GUY DUH!!! Well on your bike there should be a pole under your seat. Wrap the chain that you will use to tie up your bike around that and put the lock on the chain to hold it on the bike. Around the seat bar or center frame bar are good places. Just wrap it around and it stays out of the way pretty good. Depending on the lock/its manufacturer, it can come with a mounting bracket, which you can attach to the bike frame. The best (in my opinion) place to place that bracket is on your seat tube, since this won't get in the way of any water bottle cages/shifting or braking cables. If it doesnt have a bracket, I tend to wrap cable locks around the very front of my bikes, right behind the headset, to prevent them from jiggling around. With a U-Lock, its gonna bounce around no matter where you place it, so if you have a backpack/rear bag/pannier bags, toss it in there. If you have a saddle bag put it there. But if you don't have one, the best thing to do is to wrap it around your seatpost. |
