New/Best bike lock?

I returned to my bike today to find that someone had cut through the plastic covering but couldn't get throuch the metal "chord."
Should I just get a new one, or is it ok to stand up to another potential thief?
What's the best bike lock out there? I really need a flexible lock because the U-locks don't fit on all the random things i seem to need to chain my bike up to.

I would get a new lock. You never know if the same guy will come back with the right tool to finish the job. If you really need a flexible lock, I would recommend the Onguard chain locks. They even offer money back for your stolen bike for certain models. Kryptonite also makes some tough chain locks as well and are definitely worth considering. Park your bike somewhere else for the next few days. Good luck!

any lock will work just make sure it isn't a cheap one anything over 30 bucks should work.
Get a bike lock from MasterLock. dont get the one with combination lock unless it has five digits. Thelock with key is still better. MasterLock offers bigger diameter cable than others,and the plastic coating is thicker.Making the bikelock look more intimidating to thieves.
