Bike lock.......? |
hello, i would like to get a bike lock to use in my condo's bike room. what lock do people use? U lock? Chain lock? etc... brand and model would be great. thx I use an enormous (and expensive) Abus cable lock. It cost more than $100 and is primarily designed for motorbikes, so its long enough to go through their fat wheels and still attach to something solid. I bought the Abus because I have had two bikes nicked and in both cases 'good' bike locks had simply been cut through. During the five years I've used the Abus I've put up with the weight and bulk of it, but I haven't had another bike stolen - so it was a good investment. In the city I also use a Kryptonite shackle lock. Use a U lock for the frame and one of those cable locks for the front tire. The cable lock can be cut but it will help prevent people from stealing the front tire. You need both because people will steal the front wheels from some bikes and the frame from others and just stick them together and sell them. |
