How to you break into a bike lock when you have lost the key?

Depends. If it is still locked to the item you locked it to or not.

If it is still locked to the item, you may want to contact security in the area prior to using a hacksaw to cut it.

If it is still on the bike and not grounded to a lightpost or bike rack, take it to a local bike shop. They would be glad to cut it of and sell you a new one. I worked in a bike shop at one time and cut off over 6 locks in my career. Bike shop employees love to do this as it is a challenge and give them a chance to detroy something instead of fix it.

Does your particular lock have a replaceable key policy?

Start giving jerks to the handle. It's my personal experience

Depending on the size of the lock, you may have to saw it off. If it is smaller, than a good bolt cutter will work.

You may be able to contact the manufacturer and request another key (if you have the lock code) but this could take a few weeks. Good luck.
