How can I fix my hand-brakes?

I've got a trusty Huffy bike with Shimano speeds on it. But both of my hand brakes always either lock up or get really sweaky. I really hope I dont have to replace them both.

Any ideas?

Take the bike to a reputable bike shop. You likely need new cables, but the shop will check your brake pads, lever function and set them up like new again.
If your brakes are locking up, you likely need a new cable. If your brakes are squeeking, you may be able to get by with just an adjustment, but depending on how old the brakes are, you may need new brake pads. Again, not very expensive. Both these jobs can be done by any bike shop. Take your bike in to them and they should be able to help you out.

Huffy bicycles are not made to fix, they are made to be disposed of when they break (which is often).

Your best bet is to go to a real bike shop, get help fitting a new one, and get a free service contract thrown in for good measure. You'll get a lighter bike with better components that fits your body far better than the one-size-fits-all Huffy.
