Is it useful for victim to report snatch thieves in JB Malaysia? |
While fueling up today at a Shell station, 2 men on motorbike opened the front passenger door and grabbed my pouch. I saw them coming but couldnot lock car in time. Then I ran a few steps after them and just managed to get license plate #. I could remember the face of the rider, but the pillon was too fast for me. BTW, the thieves plate # is JDE8287. The rider is middle aged Indian with medium size moustache, the snatcher is perhaps in early 20s. I have filed a police report, but I wonder how effective is it going to be? What would JB police do about this? Can they arrest the owner of the bike if it was not previously reported stolen? what's your aim in lodging a police report. what do you expect? DO you expect the return of your pouch intact? That's unlikely to happen. Do you expect them to arrst the bike owner? It's too easy to say you were going to report it, so you weren't on the bike... Do you expect the police to prevent such thefts in the future/catch the thieves? Then you should just make a report. In that case, would you be willing to testify? Personally, since the cost would be small but the potential help to others exist, I'd make the police report, but not expect much. Inter-Pol had awarded the Malaysian Police as the MOST EFFICIENT police for solving cases among Asia countries, as accordingly to the statistic, the solved rate of crimes at Malaysia is more than 20% for the past few years. But most of us know (Malaysian and Citizen from neighbour countries), many cases that we reported were not taken into seriously, and we were seldom or never update on the outcome. I have a Malaysian friend who house was broken into for more than 5 times for the past 10 years. Everytime they reported to the Police, not even once was solved. Solved rate of more than 20%????? Just wonder how they achieved that. |
