Problem with my HID's? Please help me!?!?!?

I have an 03' GSX-R 1000 and while I was driving tonight I noticed that one of my headlights was out.

They are both supposed to be on all the time because there is an aftermarket HID system installed on the bike. At the post office I found that if I turned the bike on both lamps would ignite, but soon after the bottom one would rapidly flicker and then go out, but if I got the bike started before the bulb went out everything was fine and stayed on.

After I got home I turned the key off and on a few times and the flicker didn't happen till around the 5th try. Either the bulb in the headlight, or the mph display / tach. lights would flicker and then the headlight would go out.

I'm almost sure it's a loose connection but I wanted to get your take, I'm not sure how the HID's are hooked up, nor am I sure how old the battery is, but I don't have a voltage warning on my display.

thank you very much!

... but can a lose bulb make my screen flicker too?

now that he said his peice ck your bulb it may be loose then the connections leading to it

From your description, my guess is low voltage dropout.
High Intensity Discharge lights require a high, stable voltage to fire. (Yes, fire.)
When you start your bike, the alternator runs and you have enough juice to keep them lit.
When you turn the key on and off, you drop the battery voltage a bit.

Then again, it might just be a loose wire.
Never know, being aftermarket, somebody did something in there.

try changing the bulb first. or check to see if it's loose. halogen bulbs [which i'm guessing you have] are quite sensitive to vibration and movements. i'd definitely check that kind of thing first before going into the HID connections. i don't know much about the hid setup but it could be that the wire that outputs from there to the secondary light might be loose.

I dont know, never had such a problem on an AMERICAN bike. Thought the jap bikes never broke. Well ya get whatya pay for....
