Do sportbike batteries get drained really easy?

I just bought a 2002 Yamaha R6 and it has a new battery on it. I was getting accustomed with the bike in my garage today, and had the key on (so the lights were on) for a couple minutes before starting it. Then when I tried to start it, the battery was already dead.

Motorcycles have a simpler charging system than cars. When you turn your key off in a car, the alternator is seperated from the battery. In a bike, it isn't; and backflow through the diode rectifier slowly drains the battery. Trickle charger; or disconect the ground cable from the battery.

the batteries dont die that easily, maybe check the spark plug, it could have disconnected.

Buy a trickle charger and keep it on the bike when not in use.
