Why does my bmw r80 7 blow white smoke out?

i have recently installed new rings and and had both cylinder heads valves ect done proffesoinally, i fitted the rings myself, now when the bike is idling and i open the throttle it blows a big plime of white smoke out. it happens when i start the bike up too. it runs fine, but setting of from the lights leaves a big james bond type smoke screen, any help would be much appreciated

Did you fit new gaskets too? Breaking a ring or not siting them correctly sounds most likely.

If you "just" built it the rings are not broken in yet if more than 20 or 30 miles on it you may have broken a ring installing it
was it a 3 pc oil ring ? and was it installed right
And was the exhaust full of oil from before if so part of it may be just burning the oil out
& did you do anything to the valve guides

Did you hone the cylinders? Normally that's standard procedure but I don't know about your Nickasil plated cylinders. Some rings have an up and down side, did yours and did you get them right? If so, run it for a while to let the rings seat. Don't be afraid to give it full throttle for short bursts, just don't do it for long periods of time until they get seated. Full power will help seat the rings.
