Could I legally use a yellow headlight on a motorcycle in the UK?

I saw a really good suggestion in a letter in MCN last week...
Yellow lights are easier to spot than white and stand out from the rest, making a bike easier to spot among the cars. I think from a safety point of view it's an excellent suggestion and I'm keen to try it, but would I be breaking any rules?

Hi yes you can use yellow headlight but make sure its got the EU code on it which makes it fit for use in the uk .

Some mot stations will make you change it for your mot ok

If you ride a lot at night its not so good for lighting the road up .

As far as I know it is illegal to show anything but a white light to the front, other than indicators, of course. YOU MUST not use headlights in such a way as to cause dazzle. That is, keep on dipped headlights in traffic, NOT high beam.

You are then cutting down the amount of light so the road won't be lit up so well, plus as a motorcyclist, aren't you supposed to have full beam on all the time to make sure you dazzle all other motorists?

During the hours from dusk to dawn, remove the yellow light cover then you will be 100% legal. Although it's not illegal to use one but you may be stopped by plod. I use nothing but a clear one.

As far as i know its illegal to use coloured lights for either pilot,dipped or main beam. Whihc can result in a warning, fine or a mot failing.

HI white or amber can be shown forward facing on UK roads but must have the correct EU markings not a after market mickey mouse one
