Does cosmetic work void a car warranty?

My neighbor ran his bike into the back of my '08 scion tC. There is a scratch that is a little longer than a foot across my trunk and there is about 3 inches on my tail light. If I can find someone to fix it (body shop), about how much am I looking at? (cost wise). The scratch is pretty deep and jagged, the color of my paint is flint mica. If I get this fixed, will it void my warranty? Thanks in advance!

He doesn't have any type of insurance, he is counting on his income tax to pay for it.

You say the scratch is deep. This tells me that it will require sanding priming and painting then blending and feathering and finally a clear coat. Probably a minimum cost of $400.00 and have it done at the dealership so you can maintain your warranty status for corrosion protection. The tail light is a complete assembly and replacing it is the only way to make the scratch go away. The dealership can give you a price for the part and labor to remove and replace. You did not cause the problem so do not feel guilty about having it repaired.

For some people the extended warranties arent worth the money but for some people it is. I would have been really in a bind without it a couple times with my car when I didnt have the savings to pay outright. I was really glad I had the extended warranty.

It's simple to get a quote at a website to see how much it will run you for a extended warranty. I have recommended http://warranty.safelinked.info - Good luck.

It will void the rustproof and associated paint and sheet metal warranty for that section of the car.

Contact your insurance man for leads to a decent body shop.

the bikes homeowner policy may cover this for no out of pocket costs for anyone. worth checking.

a dented car has nothing to do with your drivetrain warranty or your bumper to bumper warranty as they so call it.

u r joking right?? how could repairing ur car void warrenty? hopping up engine voids...but repair a bumper...pleeese
