Help me before i burn it (sv 650)? |
last week i was riding my sv when the tank split on the seam absolutley soaking me , got the aa round and he stuck a bit of putty on it to get me home .. today i tried to start the bike and i got nothing not even the battery turning the bike over , but the batteries fine , the lights work and so on , its just completley dead when i push the ignition ,it doesnt even turn over could the petrol leak of got onto the electrics , or am i just unlucky ??? i ve checked the stand in thinking that it maybe a button on that , cos i know that the stand has a switch but that seems to be okay , and allso the clutch cut off seems to be okay , wot am i to do ? Check the connectors to all switches. Could even be a mucky switch. It's an ignition electrical issue for sure. you might have snagged the loom when you took the tank off and pulled a connector apart. Get a meter on the sidestand switch, clutch switch, ignition switch, leccy start switch. Eliminate the easy stuff first. Thank god I am not the only one with this type of problem...You have made me feel so much better !!! personally i would by-pass the 2 stand/clutch switch...as for the tanbnk, get some petseal from ebay...works wonders ouch ! souds like a whole new wireing loom to me then new battry and ignison barrel can you push start it? I wouldn't make a habit of it, but it might help from a diagnostic standpoint. Actually I think Suzuki has a SAFETY RECALL issued on splitting fuel tanks (at least in the USA). They are replacing tanks. Since you use "petrol" you may be somewhere else. Check with your Suzuki dealer for the RECALL. Fuel tanks should NOT split! there is a start relay down there somewhere. if it got fuel on it it might have quit. or the starter itself might be dead if it got fuel in it. |
