How long should i keep my motorcycle running after i jump start it? |
bez i'm in the process of moving, i let my bike sit for about a month, and it just won't start. when i had the keys in, the light was on, and when i try to start it, it's making some sound like zzzzzz, which i think it's trying to start. I try to jump start it today, and had it run for about 10 minutes, no time to ride it. after i turn it off, it won't start again !! so, what do you guys think, how long should i leave the engine on to let the battery charge? I will try to ride it next time, just too busy of moving now ! run it for 20 minuets, that should give it a good charge unless the battery is dead dude you need to charge the battery the right. go to the bike shop and buy a battery tender. jump starting it and letting it run or riding it is not going to charge it all the way. Your battery might be completely dead. A jump start is only a temporary fix. When you have time, after you jump it, take it to a garage and have them look at/ replace the battery. A motorcycle charging system is not designed to charge a battery. It is designed to MAINTAIN a fully charged one. So you need to charge it with a for real battery charger. Don't jump start it. Instead, go to Walmart and buy a 1.5 amp trickle charger and slow charge it. You can leave the charger connected without boiling the battery. |
