Neutral Light and inspection?

My bike is an 83 considering it is an antique could I get away with the N light not working. It's in a square cluster and can't be seen until it lights up. There is already one blank spot so If I pull the bulb would I pass a MA inspection. Its an old Honda XL with a Lifan motor. I have't figured out how to fix this yet.

Yes, it will pass inspection with the neutral light not working.
It's not a safety requirement.

Not sure about MA but here in CO all that is required is hi and low head lights, tail and brake lights, license lite or illumination, one mirror, rear brake, horn and spark arrestor, DOT approved tyres. Safety items not req. at time of manufacture cannot be required at a later date. (EX a motorcycle made before 01 July 1941 does not need a brake lite)

Speedo, signals, front brake are not required for your bikes year but must work if installed. (some cops will ticket you for Defective EQ if your speedo reads in KPH only and not MPH)
