Motorcycle wont start?

unfortunately i had a small incident when i was riding. :( i kinda came too close to a fence on a tight turn and it didnt help that i was going at a fast speed ( i was so happy that i had my license that i went a little to fast into the turn.) The gear shifter hit the pole and bent (I can fix that problem. anyway my bike kinda hit the fence and i had slowed down by then to almost lay it down but not quite. :( not much cosmetic damage though to bike or me but when i try starting the bike it wont start. It wont even make a sound. Its a 91 Nighthawk 250 and i know its drawing power when i push the starter because the head light blinks when i try starting it. O ya the neutral light went out too. If you can suggest any solutions for it thanks or if you can suggest a low cost mechanic near North Dallas thanks.

I have gas in, the engine wont turn over wont even try like i said the button does about nothing. I don't have a kick start on it

Check to make sure the carb didnt get knocked loose from the rubber boots that hold it on. If so its not letting the gas get inside the motor. Had a friend had a similar that this happen to and thats what it was. If so, just take a phillips head screw driver and unscrew the screws that hold it on and put the boots back on the carb and tighten the screws.

put gas in it

call home depot and get new one

Make sure you are in netural, tap up on gearshift lever and then 1 down. The bike should roll easy. You didn't say if engine was turning over when you try to start the engine. Are you able to kick start the bike? Try to kick start the bike if starter is not turning the engine over. If so then the starter is bad or solenoid.

Hold clutch in left lever while starting. Pull choke all the way out.

check for spark
disassemble carb , float might be stuck

float might be stuck
after colision.

I would check out the battery connection. It might be loose or battery defective. other possible is cylinder hydraulic lock. Means gas in combustion chamber. cannot turn. cause of lay down. try to remove spark plug and see if you can turn the engine. Warning. Keep the spark plugs away from plug holes. It can spark and make fire. and loose your bike.

your battery is empty, borrow one and try again if I'm rite get new battery
