How much spending money will I need for Amsterdam?

My friend and I are going to Amsterdam in June for one entire week (7 days), but neither of us know how much money we'll need.

We're just going there to hangout in the coffee shops and smoke a whole lot of weed and get laid like every day/(night) in the Red Light District. We're going to need money for that and for food. We also need money for random stuff we might want to buy, like t-shirts, souvenirs, and renting bikes to get around everyday.

We also want to stay at a hotel that is close to, or in the city center.

So besides air fair, how much money should each of us bring?

thank you so much.

Joe hi,
u will surely have some experience i tell u! the thing with Amsterdam is that u can never have enough money. u seem to want to do a lot for 2weeks, i think $2,500 will be OK. u must know that you'll be changing ur money into euro. so really that is not very much considering all the things u want to do.
hay have fun and stay very safe. cheers

$200 USD per day expenditures will be descent.

probably over a thousand anyway.. i went there for 3 days it was around 200 for the hotel.. i didnt use any of the red light districts crap.. it was so weird people dancing in windows on the street ... really creepy.. good luck.. watch out for the fields of poppies when you are landing there on the plane

you can definitely cut back by staying in a hostel. i stayed at the bulldog hostel right in the red light district. you and your buddy can have your own room and bathroom for $30 a night. you can eat for pretty cheap too. you can grab a slice of pizza for almost nothing.

i figure you will probally need about a grand for the week. maybe a little more.

p.s. dont go crazy on the shrooms. they are killer.

You have to take into consideration the exchange rate. They use the Euro in Holland so you can do the exchange on google - just type in "5 euros to usd" and it will give you the amount in USD, that day. A cheap way to stay in Amsterdam is hostels....you and your friend can get a room that is private (two beds) for about 30 Euros per person. Also, hostels usually have budget food options as well. (Try The Flying Pig hostel) The more money you spend the more you loose in exchange. The USD is so bad right now that $200 in US is only about 134 Euros....you lose almost $75 just for changing money. A joint in a coffee shop is about 4 euros....or about $6 USD. You cannot make a budget until you know if you are staying in hotels or hostels, how much you will be smoking and if you really want to have sex with the creepy chicks in the red light district. (From what I have read most guys go there with intentions of hot chicks beckoning them forth and just get really freaked out). Don't try to take pictures or you may get your camera confiscated. Also, wear a condom - these chicks are antiques.

So, a regular budget hostel, metro using, couple joint a day smoking traveller would need about 60 euros a day....you need to figure out how much your sex costs and factor that in, then convert to USD.
