How much spending money will I need for Amsterdam? |
My friend and I are going to Amsterdam in June for one entire week (7 days), but neither of us know how much money we'll need. Joe hi, $200 USD per day expenditures will be descent. probably over a thousand anyway.. i went there for 3 days it was around 200 for the hotel.. i didnt use any of the red light districts crap.. it was so weird people dancing in windows on the street ... really creepy.. good luck.. watch out for the fields of poppies when you are landing there on the plane you can definitely cut back by staying in a hostel. i stayed at the bulldog hostel right in the red light district. you and your buddy can have your own room and bathroom for $30 a night. you can eat for pretty cheap too. you can grab a slice of pizza for almost nothing. You have to take into consideration the exchange rate. They use the Euro in Holland so you can do the exchange on google - just type in "5 euros to usd" and it will give you the amount in USD, that day. A cheap way to stay in Amsterdam is hostels....you and your friend can get a room that is private (two beds) for about 30 Euros per person. Also, hostels usually have budget food options as well. (Try The Flying Pig hostel) The more money you spend the more you loose in exchange. The USD is so bad right now that $200 in US is only about 134 Euros....you lose almost $75 just for changing money. A joint in a coffee shop is about 4 euros....or about $6 USD.
