I'm sticking with the 2 stroke, because....? |
no matter which bikes get the fastest lap times ( out of 2 strokes and 4 strokes) I'll always miss that explosive acceleration out of the gate. and i don't race, i just ride for fun and do big jumps. I'm not real fast. so i just want that punchy power delivery and light weight manuverabilty. but i'm gonna get an FMF pipe to hopefully give my yz 250 a little more bottom end push. which pipe (fatty, sst, gnarly ,ect.) will give me a boost in the mid range rpm and maybe even low range rpm without sacrificing any of the power in the peak rpm. basically i want to lose nothing and gain something. I know it's almost impossible but how can i keep that top end wild uncontrolable power but also add a little pep to the step of the lower rpms? you are right rotus, I prefer 2 strokes as well and I am guessing when you mean the extra push you men the powerband kikcing in that is a rush for sure!. because the pipe is an integral part of timing the exhaust on a 2 stroke, you will lose something. you can find pipes that will give you a broader power band but you should also look at changing the jets, porting, timing and cogs if you want bottom end go with the gnarly pipe also look into getting some aftermarket reeds like v-force if you haven't already that will help a lot. also if you want to go really crazy you can you can get a high compression piston but that costs a lot and lowers the reliability some There is nothing wrong with riding a 2 stroke as long as you don't plan on winning any motocross races on it. 2 strokes are a freakin blast to ride and you have probably the best 2 stroke on the planet. In 2006 the members of the Thumpertalk.com forum (4 stroke riders obviously) picked the YZ250 as the bike of the year so that says a lot. I ride a 2006 YZ250 from time to time and I think the low end is great with the stock pipe personally. I wouldn't waster my money. |

Hi, Most likely problem is your spark plug, have you tested it,if not you want to screw it of but keep connected to your starter and hold the end that came out of the engine to your engine casing... The most likely reason for this is that the spark plug needs to either changed or at least cleaned. Two stroke engines are really hard on spark plugs, so get in to the routine of cleaning it at lea... |
