How does the 2000 Yamaha R6 Fuel Indicator Work?


I'm interested in knowing what exactly triggers the fuel reserve light to turn on. It seems to turn on at random times with my bike. Just a few miles after filling up, it will turn on. It's somewhat distracting. Am I missing something - am I suppose to be resetting something to prevent this from happening?

its maybe malfunctioning, but it turns on when you have about 1 gallon left. thats when you should switch to reserve.
