1998 GSX-R750 hard to shift when hot. Any ideas?

This is a friend's bike. It shifts and runs fine until it gets warm, then it is difficult to run through the gears. The clutch seems to disengage, but not completely. It's nearly impossible to get it in neutral while stopped at a light; it seems the cluch isn't releasing properly. Is there a clutch adjustment at the engine like on an older bike that we can try? Any other ideas? BTW, it's a cable operated clutch, not hydraulic.

Check your oil level. Next, do you know how to take the cable off? If so, buy some cable lube and a special cable lube tool, my tool was included when I bought the lube (it's called "cable life" by champions choice,inc.).
Anyway, start with lubercating the cable. Put cable back on and re adjust. Still have a problem? Could be the clutch plates or even worse, the transmission. More than likely, it's as simple as an adjustment in the cable!
Yes, there is an external clutch adjuster.
The adjuster is where the cable attaches to the engine.
Loosen the lock nut.
Turn the adjuster screw out (counter clockwise) to relieve the tension.
Turn the screw in (clockwise) till it gently seats and back it out 1/4 turn.
Tighten the lock nut.

Go to - Suzuki Motorcycle Parts - your bike - Clutch (to see adjuster)
This happened on my gixxer when I used automotive grade oil instead of motorcycle oil. There is a difference.
