Yamaha Virago 250, gas milegae good or bad? |
I'm looking to get a starter bike. I've been told that a Yamaha 250 is the way to go. But in light of rising gas prices, I was wondering if I should find something else with better EPA stats? Any 250 will get you 70+ MPG if you don't drive like a maniac. You don't want a smaller bike than that so if you want to maximize your mileage pull in your clutch going down hill to let your engine slow down when you don't need it and drive in the highest gear you can without chugging your engine to keep your RPM's down. they do get decent gas mileage 50+ MPG most models get better than that and the highest i heard of a regular bike is close to 100 owned a motorcycle The Royal Enfield 500 Bullet and Suzuki Blvd 40 are single cylinder bikes that get terrific mileage and have more torque that 250 twins. They don't cost that much more and you don't feel the need to 'outgrow' them as quickly. You get to keep more of your investment longer. I have a Virago 250. I think gas milegae is very good, because I go to gas station once a month. If you are looking starter bike, you should choose Virago. |
