Can you explain?

I was driving in NY city yesterday where a biker and I collided.

Let me explain the collision to you clearly.

1....... The road was a six lane road. 3 lanes on the left and 3 lanes on the right.

2...... I stopped at a red light on the left lane on my side of the road preparing to make a left turn....

3..... Once I got the GREEN arrow, I legally made my left turn....

4.... BAM! A biker collided into my car, damaging the right fender of my car...

5..... The Biker was approaching from the opposite direction. It seems as if he ran the RED light, for I had the GREEN arrow on my side of lane, which is the left lane...

6.... I explained everything to the cops.

Today I got the report: This is what it says:

" Biker claims that Car driver made a U-Turn and hit him off the bike."

Very funny. What a liar!!!

Police stated " Car driver is considered at fault"

Now, HOW THE HELL DID I GET THE WRONG?

Bike riders are supposed to follow the same rules of the road as drivers. If he had a red light on his side,he was obligated to stop and wait for the green light.
Put a notice in the paper asking for any witnesses of the accident to contact you.Fight it,it doesn't appear to be your fault.
If you look at the letter, there should be a address you can send a letter to. If you write a full page essay to them with your plausible story, they should drop the ticket charge.
I did this with one of my tickets, that I knew was totally wrong! I sent the letter, and weeks later, i received a letter saying the ticket was revoked!
did they get your statement right?

was the bike rider a cop? off duty?

in most accidents the bike rider is usually at fault, they don't like to follow the rules of the road, but most states have a vehicle code section requiring them to.

good luck. it's tough to get them to change the report even when it's wrong.
Biker lied, and it may take an honest witness to fix things!
dont know wha laws are there but id take it further and dont let go untill u get the answers you want. something dodgy happening there
In most cases the biker is NOT at fault. People often do not see a biker and pull out in front of them or pull over in front of them etc. (Note I am not a biker or a biker fan but this is fact)
Also I am not saying the poster of this question was at fault, in fact it seems as though he wasn't or atleast thinks he wasn't.

If you are sure about what happened then fight it. I would start by seeing if your insurance company will help you fight it. That is what you pay them for. If they think there is any chance to fight it and save them the money they will.

Are there any witnesses to this?
Good luck.
