Tight Chest pains.... normal EKG/ECG? |
Just recently (like a couple of days) I've been having tightness in my chest. Today my arm started feeling tingly so I rushed to my doctor who did a EKG. Everything came out normal (as well as my blood pressure and when he was listening to my heart and pulse). So what is the problem here? I recently began exercising on the bike about 2 weeks ago (atleast 3 times a week, sometimes more), then I would take a shower consisting of cold water for about a minute then cool water fro about 9 minutes... my granny says that causes pain after exercising, I dont think so, but I wont rule it out since she knows about all kinds of weird foriegn remedies for things). Anyhoo, I am feeling a light tightness as I type (along with tingly hands). The pains aren't that bad but its still got me worried. Any Ideas? What other tests should I get? Does having a normal EKG rule anything wrong with my heart? Your BP is normal the EKG looks fine but you still have issues. It could be anxiety & stress. These can give spasms with give the same cardio issues than a real heart patient. Take some magnesium , relax , STOP drinking sodas, drink plenty water , think positively. Life goes fast so why worry all the time instead of enjoying it? Do some basic yoga breathing as well. Give yourself another 3 weeks if nothing has improved go check a cardiologist. Best luck bud Bob.R http://www.online-computer-repair.biz... It could be anxiety. Anxiety are pains that seem so real but they are not really there. Most people get it some milder than others. Talk to your doctor about it. Do you honestly think anyone on Yahoo Answers can tell you what is going on with your heart????!!!!! an ekg only tests the conduction system of your heart. And also perhaps it was normal when the doctor checked it but may be abnromal under certain cercumstances. I would ask for a referal to a cardiologists or have more tests done. (it may just be anxiety--but make sure your heart is fine first) I have to agree with your granny and say its muscle pain. I would recommend that your doctor refer you to a cardiologist. Perhaps he would do blood work on you to see if your tryglycerides, etc. are within normal range. Sometimes you really have to be proactive with your doctor. Tell them you'd like to have more tests to determine why the chest discomfort, tingling, etc. If the doc doesn't do more tests - seek out another doc. Good luck - been there! Based on your symptoms (and normal ECG), as well as other unknown variables such as age, gender, past medical history, etc., it is rather difficult to ascertain a specific disease state; the chest tightness could be symptomatic of angina, a vascular condition caused by lack of perfusion to the heart maybe due to your recent exercise routine; the tingling sensation could also be caused by poor blood circulation to the extremities or may be non-specific; please schedule an appointment with a cardiologist and ask about a V/Q scan, a vascular perfusion scan that evaluates your coronary circulation, and an echo-cardiogram, which evaluates the heart's pumping and resting functions; a normal ECG should not preclude you from seeking out more specific answers to your symptoms. |
