Are people afraid of bikers? |
At around 10pm last night, i was waiting at a stoplight next to an SUV at an empty intersection. I was riding my gsxr 750. I was bored so I was making direct eye contact with the driver just to mess with him. Then I reached into my jacket, I just had to scratch an itch. Suddenly the guys eyes widened a little and he took off straight through the red light. I thought it was pretty funny. Do I look like a mobster? Or are people just afraid of bikes? It's the old stereo type that all bikers belong to some motorcycle gang. This is because of movies that portray motorcyclist as thugs and gangsters. Don't feel bad, I belong to "Christian Motorcyclist Association" and we have rode up behide cars and they actually move off the road to let us pass. Usually older people, who were scared to see a group of motorcyclist riding on the road. Once 35 of us pulled into a outdoor icecreamery (like Brewsters) people waiting in line to place their orders actually got into their cars and left, others sitting at the picnic tables got up and went to their cars. In restaurants, we see people who look at us scared. After reading our colors "Christian Motorcyclist Association, Riding for the Son", the next responce is, "I didn't know there was a such a thing as a Christian Motorcycle Group. One of the things we do is go to visit different churches and explain what we do and you would be supprised how many people associated motorcyclists to gangs. Sometimes, I am tempted to give the "Tongue" as I ride by someone who looks intimidated, but I know it's not the "Christian thing to do." Imagine how they feel when we stop behind somebody broke down to see if the need assitance. Until they realize who we are they roll up windows and lock the doors. We are only there to help! Dont mess round with people. U might end up in jail one day. I dont know if you look like a mobster or not but i think it scares the crap outa people when you reach into your pocket and stare at them directly. I mean who wouldnt. I bet it was some white dude :O maybe some asian guy You don't look like a mobster. Not all people are afraid of bikes. haha...he probly though you were gonna pop a cap in him, but yeah, i think bikers are stereotyped to be cold blooded killers or extreme badasses I don't know what kind of bike that is. Is is a "crotch rocket" or a Harley wannabe? I assume the first. Anyway, I think a lot of people are afraid of bikers, simply because of the reputation they have. Rest assured, not everyone is. I used to be, until I got to know some of them a few years ago. your actions caused fear in the man , it could have been someone in a car next to him making eye contact then reaching into his jacket ....to many car jacking's now so people are on the defensive and don't want to risk being killed and what if he Had a gun and reacted to your actions and really shot you ? not a funny thing to do playing head games on the road |
