Looking for a good bicycle computer, any recommendations? |
I want it to measure temperature, have a calorie counter and have a back light. Sigma's and Cateye's are very easy to use and reliable. Sigma's are the easiest to install by far, and you can choose to make it wireless and add cadence in the future if you so desire. A cateye will last forever. If you do go wireless, they are great, but beware that some interference (such as hydro wires) will affect the readings. Polar makes great computers if you want to keep track of your heart rate too. I would not buy a trek if you mountain bike - although they are great computers, and the wire is long enough to reach the back wheel (in case you use a trainer), the computer does not stay attached to the mounting bracket very well. Every company makes a wide variety of computers from basic 6-7 functions to some that even have GPS and track elevation - so just look for something that fits your needs. Source(s): work in a bike shop Trek as some pretty awesome accessories for bikes at www.trekbicycles.com or www.nikecycling.com The CATEYE CD300DW---w/ 16 functions---though has high price is your best----get 'em at COLORADO CYCLIST website----www.colorado cyclist.com Another would be the VDO MC1.0 Altimeter---with 5 year warranty! www.coloradocyclist.com Check out this link: www.cateye.com Cat eye has a wide variety of easy to use cyclocomputers. Totally agree that Cateye is the way to go. I have a Cateye Velo 8 purchased for USD25 and it has all the features I need. Speedo, Odo, time travelled, trip distance, average speed, max speed, even calories burnt and indication whether current speed is below or above the average speed. And of course, time. Who needs a watch? Only drawbacks are its single trip data storage capability only and no backlight. |
