I'm a cyclist that wants to know the elevation at (1) Guam Veteran's Cemetary and (2) Guam High School |
Once a week here in Guam, I do a 3 repetition bicycle ride from Marine Drive (traffic light @ Guam Veretran's Cemetary) to Guam High School and would like some elevation information so I can chart it. My USGS Topo maps are all in Florida. I looked up Guam on Google Earth. The Veterans Cemetary is on the west side of Guam and has a high point of 12 meters elevation, but that's inside the cemetary. At roadside, the cemetary is 8 or 9 meters above sea level. The "George Washington High School " in Guam is on a hillside on the east side of Guam. The elevation at the North-West corner of the High School is 59 meters, but in the High School parking lot, the elevation goes down to 6 meters. I'm getting this from GoogleEarth, I've never been to Guam. The intersection on the North-East corner of Guam Intl. Airport is at 110 meters above Sea Level GoogleEarth is not giving me the Street names for Guam roads. There is a hill of 200 meters elevation about a mile East of the Airport, It looks like the housing development/subdivision is built on a good size hill. the cemetary , if your underground would be 6 ft Hey, You can get GPS bike computers, that will keep track of this info, and even upload it into computer programs to chart your rides/progress. check out: Garmin Edge's Polar 720i Ciclosport 434M Forerunner 201 Some GPS cell phones and mappind devices also give this info. good luck work in a bike shop check out the free online mapping services - most of them offer elevation data. no need to buy gps gadgets!! http://veloroutes.org http://gmap-pedometer.com |
