Mormons - what is your best 'meeting the elders' story?

Here's mine...I was riding my moped home from work...talking to my friend...I told her (she's Mormon) that I saw the missionaries across the highway. She tells me to chase them down.

I chase down the mopeds, cutting across the divided highway. The elders on their bicycles see this guy chasing them down on a moped, so they pedal faster...

I catch up to them at a stop light. My friend asks me to hand my cellphone over to them. She talks to them for about 20 mins, then they hand the phone back. They ask me if I can meet with the missionaries the next day...I say 'yeah'.

The next day, two elders show up...this is Sat, so they interview me as an investigator and ask me to come to sacrament the next day. Sunday, they take me to sacrament...in the wrong ward! But I hear the testimony of the stake patriarch and realize that these are spiritual people...

So I decide to investigate...

And a couple weeks later, I surrender and get baptised.

My meeting with the elders was a bit different. Shortly after my daughter's birth I started to question my own beliefs. I saw the hatred that I had in my heart for theists, and could find no explanation for such anger. I have not had negative encounters with Christians, but yet felt some sort of resentment towards them. When I further examined such hatred, I noticed that many of the things I would accuse them of were actually the things I were doing.

To understand Christians more, I used the Internet and spent countless hours researching what they believed. Unfortunately, it seemed as though a thousand different answers were provided for any one question I wanted answered. There was a lot of disagreement between Christians as to who was right, who was wrong, etc. I then started to research the Latter-day Saints. Most of my questions were answered in a respectable, and considerate manner. I found answers to many of the questions that always seemed to be avoided by other people.

After reading just a little regarding the religion, I decided to attend one of their Wards. I located a Ward that was a short distance away and that Sunday I went to their Sacrament. This is where I met the Elders. To be honest they were slightly surprised to meet me, it would seem not many people arrive unannounced in this particular part of Florida. I went through a lot of elders before eventually, I was baptized (late June of 2006).

I am glad that you have also been baptised, this is a great Church and Joseph Smith is a prophet. God bless =)
Try a Christian religion you poor lost soul.
I had them visit many times, gave them food and drink and money and presents and then went to church a few times and then was about to be baptized and then i told them about some miracles.

I told the two elders that God had preformed two miracles, life saving miracles for my father and mother and they got up, called me CRAZY and left, saying when i called them later
that ONLY priests and higher ups in there Church could do miracles.and the elder that answered the phone called me crazy again for saying that i had seen miracles,

I am so thankful I didn't get baptized into that weird church they really hurt me when they said that to me
Gods spirit can work miracles without there Church
That's totally strange that they think they own the spirit of God
The holy ghost spirit of God is for everyone I believe
and it still works miracles
this to the second guys comment i am so sorry you had a bad experience and meet really weird missionaries!
but my story is i have been a member my whole life but i had a friend get baptized about a year and a half ago. it was so amazing as she started to investigate and take lessons you could see her change you could see the light in her and her desire to know more about christ and the chruch! i took her to girls camp and it was the last night and we had a testimony meeting and we were walking aback to our camp sight and the sprirt was so strong we were both just balling and we couldn't stop and she told me that the chruch was different from other churches that she could feel the sprit and had a great feeling and that everything made since! her changing and getting baptised strength my testimony on the truefulness of the church!
I get to talking to them and ask questions about the faith and how they reconcile the cardinal truths of Mormonism with scriptures. They weren't able to answer these questions and I told them about 1 pe 3:15
I found out my long-distance boyfriend was a Mormon. I didn't know what to think, mostly because I had no idea about them. He taught me what he knew about the church and their believes over the phone every night.
One day, while I stayed home to get ready for a funeral, the elders knocked on my door. I surprised them with my knowledge my boyfriend gave me. They invited me to church.
I took the lessons and attended church. Once my lessons were finished, I was baptized...a day before my 18th birthday!
I feel that if I had decided to go to school instead of stay home and get ready, I would have missed the elders, my mom would have shoo-ed them away, and I would have missed the opportunity to receive further guidence.
Congratulations on seeking answers for yourself and it finding out if the message is true or not. If you pray with a sincere heart, with real intent, and ask for knowledge, the Lord will reveal things to you through the power of the Holy Ghost.
