Troubleshooting FI map sensor code on '01 F4i?

Just when I thought I had finally finished fixing my bike, the FI light came on again today.

The bike was running on three cylinders, terrible gas mileage, strong smell of fuel, FI light flashing code 2 (map sensor). I changed out the fuel pressure regulator like everyone here was suggesting, and that seemed to fix the problem! So I took it for a ride today... just a 4 miles round trip. Bike seemed to be running perfectly. But several minutes after I filled up with gas, the FI light came on -- code 2 again.

Code 2 means: loose or poor connection of the map sensor vacuum hose or faulty map sensor.

The bad fuel pressure regulator was spitting fuel into its vacuum hose... which could have caused the hose material to break down and leak? Is it possible this could effect the vacuum hose going to the map sensor? I already replaced the map sensor when I was trying to fix the original problem.

Yes. Check and repair all vacuum lines and she will be healed. Source(s): M/C Tech.
