Why do cops pull people over for not having a light on their bikes? |
Where I live that is a major problem to the local idiots. Yet in front of their noses the worst of crimes go on and they do nothing. I am leader of my neighborhood watch I see alot and nothing gets done yet every day so many bikers get pulled over. yes it could be dangerous if it was dark but our little town is all lit up. A bicycle is considered a vehicle (especially when it is sharing the roadway) and is privy to many of the same laws as a car. A bike with no lights is damn near invisible to drivers at night. Cops are pulling people over because they are no only endangering themselves, they are also endangering other drivers by operating their vehicle (bicycle) Unsafely. It's a safety feature to prevent injuries and deaths from motorists. I would imagine that if "major" crime was going on right in front of their nose they'd do everything to stop it. Perhaps if one of those "bikers" was your child and got hit by a car because the driver couldn't see them you'd be more okay with what the police are trying to do...save lives!! If there is crime going on what are you doing to stop it? Do you call the police when you see something? Is your neighborhood watch group up to speed on procedure? Don't blame the cops for doing their jobs, funerals aren't fun. Well then call the non emergency line of your local PD and tip the cops off. Maybe they aren't always there when things go on, did you ever think of that? Cops can only bust the people that they see and that are reported, so if you don't report what's going on, how do you expect anything to get taken care of? when you ride your bike on the streets you are subject to the laws just like someone driving a car I would bet the legislature that made that made it illegal to bike without a light at night just got sick of paying the medical bills for those that had been hit by cars. |
