I am also having an electrical problem with the bike. There is a new battery but the bike never has enough power to start. If I hook up jumper cables the bike starts with no problems. But once I shut it down it won't have enough power to start again. The alternator seems to be working fine since the fan and lights work while the bike is running. Seems the battery isn't taking a charge which is unusual because it is 2 months old. Any ideas?
Clean off both ends of both battery cables. Try cleaning or replacing the battery cables. Corrosion on the cables can cause a drastic drop in voltage but not enough to show up as a problem on the idiot lights. Clean them with baking soda and water and then scratch them up a bit with sand paper. If this doesn't work then replace them. Also if you have an Ohm meter, check the voltage regulator to see if it is putting out the proper 12 volts needed to charge the system.
Here is an exploded view from the bikebandit.com website. It appears the petcock is near the left side cover. http://www.bikebandit.com/partsbandit/sh...
