I need help with the security system on my Harley Davidson Heritage Softail? |
I recently bought a 2005 Harley Davison Heritage Softail that came with a standard, factory issue security system. The guy who sold me the bike warned me that the system could be a bit tricky to set but apparently I wasn't paying close enough attention. I have the hand-held button that attaches to my key ring, it has only one button you can push which apparently turns the system both on and off. When I push it the lights flash but I can literally start the bike and ride around without lights coming on or a siren starting so the system must not be armed. How do I arm my security system? Does anyone have one of these that can give me a step-by-step run down? I would really appreciate it. Take your key fob and hold down the button until the turn signals flash twice. (it's now armed) the red key light on the right side of the speedo will slowly flash. to disarm the bike click the key fob button twice. the turn signal will flash once to tell you it's disarmed. try both fobs to make sure that they work. also change your security pin code on the bike otherwise the prior owner could take your bike back by disarming the system without the fobs. Get a copy of the electronic service manual for your bike and it will tell you how to do this, or you could take the bike into a dealership and have the service department do it for you. Source(s): HD Tech ya know security systems are for cars, I park my chopper in da living room where it belongs. the rest of da time its got a disk lock on the sprocket and I drop it in gear and remove the lever off my forward control and put a lever cover over the clutch lever. This way it cant roll. plus I chain it up and keep a 45 pistol within arms reach. walter has ya covered in detail. the service manual or owners manual will detail how to arm/disarm/set up the security system. i suggest u go to the hd shop and get another 1 if u dont have 1. btw, if a theif is detirmined to have ur bike, no security system will stop him. it can be gone in 30 seconds or less. |
