Vascular Surgery? |
ive got an operation coming up removing varicose veins off 1 leg (stripping). i'm bricking it a little because they are going into my groin and it's one area i'm a little concerned by. so yeah would love to hear from anyone who's had it done, what's the recovery process like?/is walking etc ok afterwards? i'm a fitness fanatic, so how long before i can get back into light training (maybe excerise bike/rowing machine)? thanks. You'll have two incisions (minimum). One in the groin, one further down the leg. You MAY have other small incision if there are significant branches that need treating. There are less invasive methods that are done with fewer incisions, but they're not suitable for everyone. If you get the surgery done soon, then any scars should well faded by summer. The typical patient is off work for up to two weeks. If you try to do too much too soon, you'll pay for it with more pain. After the first week or so, start by walking. I don't think you'll want to do strenuous exercise for 3 weeks. Source(s): vascular surgery PA |
