Why is it that students in Headingley have real problems with the Green Cross Code?

I took an alternative route to get home tonight and ended up coming through Headingley centre. I was not going fast and was driving quite cautiously, however, I nearly ran over about 6 students who just walked out into the road without checking. Also, there were about three people cycling with no reflective gear or any kind of lighting on their bikes.

These are supposed to be intelligent types who are doing further education / a degree of some description... How do they get into uni when they can't even master the basics of crossing the road?

I'm a mature student and I agree with you. Many of the students I know are incredibly inteligent, but simply have no common sense, at all.
Because they haven't grown up yet. Also anyone can get into university these days, A levels are now given out with cornflakes packets.
its the same with members of broadoak primary in st.helens
It's because they have thier head so far up, they don't see anything. People at Uni think they are the future. Sounds scarey doesn't it? Try hitting one to see if they are a figment of thier own imagination.
Because they are all thinking about getting to Happy Hour at the Hyde Park pub
most students need educating, that is why they are students
