I want to lose weight and tone up, is biking 40 minutes per day with light weight lifting good enough? |
I also am reducing my caloric intake of foods and drinking a lot of water. In how much time should I see results? I would like to lose about 15-20 pounds in 3 months. that sounds like a great plan make sure the biking is semi-vigorous and you should be burning off calories and meeting your goal...good luck Sounds good to me. Make sure its the intensity that is important, not the length or frequency you work out. 15-20 lb is quite easy to loose, if you kept up with what you are doing, you may loose more than that, I mean the body fat mass. It's good but remember it's not all about calories, I suggest a low carb diet in addition to your exercise. You will lose 15 pounds in a month. But stick to the low carbs, no more than 40 grams in a day, preferably in the morning. It should be more than enough. One thing remember that muscle wieghts alot more than fat, so if you lose 15 lbs and put on 5 lbs of muscle you will look thiner that nif you just lost 15 fat. Watch the area that you want to decrease in size more than the scales. If you want to judge how you are really doing Wow, keep that up and you're going to be gorgeous! You'll start to really see something in about 4 weeks. Your weight loss goal may be a bit agressive, that will depend on how overweight you are. The last few pounds are always the hardest. If you work toward the stated goal, but agree with yourself to be satisfied and encouraged by a 10-12 lb. loss you're probably on very solid ground. With your new regime your above stated goals sound very doable in 6 months. I would think you should have good results. Just make sure your caloric intake isn't too low or you won't lose weight. You didn't mention if you are male or female or how much you weigh now. If you are a woman you should consume 1200-1400 calories, a man should consume 1400-1600 at least. Biking is an awesome cardio workout, but 40 minutes is a little short. Most experts recommend 45 minutes minimum. 40 min. would probably be ok if you're really pumping. |
